It was raining today. Rarely a good thing from a photographer’s point of view…

So, I was walking outside, just to see if any other flowers had bloomed, and I spotted droplets.

I ran inside to get my camera, with macro lens, and this the result!

This was one of the leftover crocuses that came up late, and hasn’t died yes, despite the snow, cold, and tons of rain we’ve been having.

March is leaving like a lion too!

I’m still sick.
Today I managed to do about 4 or 5 things.

bring some dishes to the sink.
drive the boys to school
make myself an omelette for lunch
take a nap
take these pictures

Now I do believe that spring is coming…

This bud is not alone.

It was together with these…

Fabio spotted it yesterday! I didn’t do anything to get these. The previous owner planted them. It’s amazing!

Staying inside sucks. And it doesn’t provide much in the way of interesting photography if you don’t have a flash or a studio set up.

So, i had to get creative right before the sun set, because I wanted to get some natural light.

My intentions were to photograph something else. But as a happy accident, the cat–Trick, got in the way, and since he is so photogenic, he became the photo of the day.

I did get a few other things while the sunlight was still around…

Willik has been trying to learn to play the piano on his own, since he knows how to read music, it sorta comes naturally after watching his brother…

He definitely has a pianist’s hand, with those long slender fingers.

And then, this is what I was trying to photograph to begin with. Do you know what it is?

Another tough day for pictures.

This morning I got pictures of branches with rain drops. Sounds cool, but in five minutes time I was getting drenched and so was my camera, and focusing was a challenge.

All day went by. Keeping 6 kids entertained and happy for an whole indoor day, not to mention that 3 of them were not feeling 100% great did not help the already great task.

I decided to do a little portrait session of my gerbils.

Gusteau won and had the most photogenic shots.

He won today’s contest…

I hope tomorrow is a nicer day.

Trick is hilarious. He got very jealous when I was feeding the gerbils and giving them water. I was even trying to take pictures of them, but his came out better, so here it is.

Shot with Canon 50d and my macro 100mm.

I just got the best gift from Fabio.

He gave me a macro lens for my camera. I’d been wanting one, and I was trying to see if the rest of the family would pitch in and give me some cash toward it so I could buy one, but he went one over, and got me an even better one than the one I had set my eyes on! What a guy!!!

Here’s what he got me…

This is an amazing macro lens.

This is the first good picture I took with it tonight, inside, in a kinda dark living room, hand held…

Notice the extreme depth of field, and focus only on one spot.

Now picture a flower or an insect instead. That’s what I hope to capture more of, so stay tuned for more experimental pictures as I learn, and give me any advice about macros you might have.
