Today I spent a good part of the day around town.
I went on a couple errands with a driver on staff, who speaks a little bit of English.
It was a really good opportunity to learn more indonesian, and to see the city.
The macet, or traffic, was heavy everywhere we went, as previously explained; I think it’s always relatively heavy, considering the amount of motorcycles and other small vehicles crowding all around.
I’ve resigned to the fact that I have a big sign on my head that says “orang asing” – foreigner, so I just have to deal with being looked at all the time I’m outside.
On a positive note, I’ve been invited to join an american family for an outing tomorrow night, when the kids go ice skating in the mall. I know, it sounds wrong, but it’s not. There’s a ice skating rink in the big SunPlaza Mall, right by my hotel. Go figure!!!
Pictures will come later…
